Bob Cousins

Bob Cousins is a designer working across theatre, dance, opera and film. Designs include sets for: Season at Sarsaparilla, War of the Roses, King Lear, The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui (Sydney Theatre Company) Cloudstreet, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, Strange Interlude, and Waiting for Godot (Belvoir St Theatre, Sydney); Moving Target (Malthouse Theatre, Melbourne); Lear (Salzburg Festspiele), Der Ring der Nibelungen (Opera Australia); Weather, Conversation Piece and Motion Picture (Lucy Guerin Inc Dance Company); Complexity of Belonging (Chunky Move Dance Company); Medea and Husbands and Wives (Toneelgroep Amsterdam); and Peer Gynt (Schauspielhaus Hamburg). Film designs include Candy, Romulus My Father, Balibo and Ruben Guthrie.

Forthcoming productions; Medea (Burgtheater, Vienna), La Traviata (Opera Nationale Paris 2019), Médée (Salzburg Festspiele 2019). Awards include the Melbourne Green Room Award, Sydney Theatre Award and the Ralph Hall Myers Award for Promising Young Designers. In 2012 Bob received a Sidney Myer Creative Fellowship in recognition of his career’s work.
