Rieke Süßkow

Rieke Süßkow was born in Berlin in 1990 and initially studied Theater, Film and Media Studies in Vienna. In addition to internships and assistantships, her first own directorial works in the independent scene were created in Vienna. With her directing debut "The Beautyqueen of Leenane" by Martin McDonagh she was invited to the international theater festival Perm in 2012. 2014-2019 she studied directing at the Theater Academy in Hamburg. During her studies she became a scholarship holder of the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes and together with Emre Akal won the jury prize of the 10th Young Talent Competition at the Theater Drachengasse in Vienna for the world premiere of "Heimat in Dosen" and directed the "Traumnovelle" after Arthur Schnitzler at the Staatstheater Braunschweig. Her final production "Medea" after motifs by Hans Henny Jahnn had its premiere at Kampnagel in March 2019 and was invited to the Fast Forward Festival of the Staatsschauspiel Dresden and the FIAT Festival in Montenegro. There she won the prize for best director. Her world premiere of Kevin Rittberger's "IKI.Radikalmensch" at the Theater Osnabrück was invited to the Mülheimer Theatertage 2020 and to the Festival Radikal Jung at the Munich Volkstheater. Furthermore, together with Mehdi Moradpour, she is part of the first Mühlheimer Stückewerkstatt in cooperation with the Schauspielhaus Wien. She is co-founder of the theater collective "Hallimasch-Komplex".
