Picture yourself leaving everything behind and making a fresh start: a different city, a different job, a different love affair. Imagine if it were up to you to design your life; if you were to decide the course of your life… But wait: Isn’t that what we do? How exactly would we live if we could change our lives? What would we do if only we wanted things to be different?
Max Frisch’s life-long question of who we are and who we could be is carried to the extreme in "Mein Name sei Gantenbein". The play gives voice to both the doubtfulness of modern mankind and to the weighing of reality and possibility. Oliver Reese has staged several monologues and here he directs his own adaptation of Frisch’s final great novel, featuring Matthias Brandt, who will return to the stage after an abstinence of 20 years.
