In "Auch Zwerge haben klein angefangen", Peter Luppa tells stories from his adventurous and merry life with great glee and zeal: How he as a "little dwarf" – as he likes to describe himself – set out to become an actor at a young age, and how, against all resistance from the provinces, he finally joined Berliner Ensemble, where he has been a company member for more than 20 years now!
The arts, no matter which discipline, have always needed the dwarf as an eye-catcher. What would Botticelli’s painting "Adoration of the Kings" be without the dwarf, bearded and clothed in splendid garments, bearing a knife and sword? It would literally be broken apart; the absence of the dwarf would tear a fatal rift into the image, and not only into the image: a rift between the kings adoring the Christ child on the one side and the ordinary people on the other.
The dwarf brings together different groups of people with great equanimity. No matter whether you are a king or a courtier, he shows you: You are all the same in appearance – I am the miracle that reveals your nature to you.
An equally side-splitting and very touching evening of theatre featuring Peter Luppa!
