Bertolt Brecht was not only a playwright, theatre theoretician, political thinker and the founder of Berliner Ensemble but also an exceptionally gifted poet and singer-songwriter avant la lettre. "Fremder als der Mond" interweaves Brecht-songs by Hanns Eisler and others with the author’s poetry and autobiographical prose, creating a musical and fragmentary portrait of the life of the great B.B. It describes the emergence of an artist’s personality, the general challenges of a love life, of war, exile and a return home – and it talks about dying and the relationship between author and posterity.
Singer and actor KATHARINE MEHRLING is well-known to the Berlin audience from her numerous appearances at Komische Oper Berlin and Bar jeder Vernunft. "Fremder als der Mond" will mark her first performance at Berliner Ensemble, in which she will be joined by Paul Herwig.
